What is your English level?

My books are at different levels.

Choose the right level for you.

Graded readers are written at different levels of complexity. The grammar and vocabulary are very controlled.

  • Lower levels have very easy grammar and vocabulary. The books are also shorter.
  • Higher levels have more difficult grammar and vocabulary. The books are longer.
All my books are marked with the level. There are four levels.

The table below can help you decide your level. Read the example texts – the level you choose should be comfortable to read.

Why is the level important?

You should read a book at your level.

  • If the level is too low, you won't learn anything new.
  • If the level is too high, you won't understand the story and you will stop reading.

If you don't feel confident, try a book that is one level lower than your level.

If the book is your level, how will you learn new words?

Don't worry! In each book, I include words that are above the level of the book.

  • This means that you will learn lots of new words.
  • There are definitions for all these new words at the back of each book.

Also, reading increases your confidence and your fluency. How?

When you read, you learn chunks of language (groups of words). This is really important in language learning. These chunks help you to sound more natural. Examples are collocations, idioms and verb patterns. You will learn them without noticing! Just relax and read the story!

And reading helps you to consolidate what you already know. You are exposed to lots of language when you read a story (grammar, vocabulary, language patterns etc). You'll see - you'll improve very fast!
